I love the deep preferences, support for ReplayGain information.
It doesn't sync perfectly with iTunes (last played metadata doesn't seem to update after the initial sync), but it's pretty darned good. Audirvana really looks smashing with support for dark mode. Maybe I'm just so sick of the lame iTunes UI and UX. AirPlay: MusicService -> iOS -> Airport Express.
It also lets you stream audio to Apple TV and any compatible speakers, including those connected to an AirPort Express router.
This time it's really found a home with me. GoogleCast stream the audio/video directly from the server like this: MusicService -> Chromecast Audio. AirPlay lets you stream video and mirror your display from the best iPhone, iPad, or Mac to Apple TV. I've given Audirvana Plus a couple of test drives over the years, but previously decided to just stick with iTunes, warts and all. Also UI, while pretty enough I suppose, actually is fairly unwieldy. I downloaded and installed Fidelia and Audirvana Plus test drives.įidelia is OK, but it is conspicuously missing support for ReplayGain on playback. I decided to give iTunes alternatives another go. All the other Audirvana threads are closed.
Mac OS kept nagging me about it, so it was time to make a change.īut that's not what this thread is about. The TC sounded perfectly fine, but it required an applet to configure certain system settings like bit depth and playback frequency. I was hoping perhaps Airfoil might improve the audio quality because I would like to stream Spotify to AE but for now the quality is so bad I can't do it.So I finally upgraded my playback interface from an older TC electronics firewire to an RME Babyface Pro. Does anyone know more about this or things that can be done to help the situation? I think the optical to analog transfer wavelength is set way higher than the Mac output and only as the max volume out does it meet the minimum requirement of AE. Its speed is still plenty fast for streaming music or HD video, but even under the best conditions, at. I have to have the outputs in iTunes or the system, whichever I am using to output at max volume or a channel will drop during low sound times. Our testing shows that the AirPort Express is actually among the slowest 802.11n devices. I already had an Apple Airport Express which connects to the AudioEngine. It might be because iTunes has an equalizer and the system does not but I think it goes further than that.ĪE unfortunately takes a lot of power to faithfully process the sound. How do the Dynamic Duo (DragonFly Red and Audirvana Plus) handle MQA files. Airplay on airport express is limited to 16-44.1. Both programs are able to stream files without changing the sample rate. I tried two different player on my Mac (Vox and Audirvana Plus) to play high res audio files. output and the Airport Expresss analog output (trivial to do with Airplay and a Mac). Both programs are able to stream files without ch Hello, I´am really frustrated because of AirPlay and my Meridian Explorer. But compared to the Audio output of iTunes the Computer output sounds terrible. Equip: Jolida tube amp, streaming FLAC audio files, SB touch. With very little fanfare, Apple finally upgraded the last of its WiFi products still to be using 802.11g to the faster and wider-coverage standard, 802.11n.
My questions adds to this in the way of that I am on (now) Mountain Lion and I have discovered I can set AE as my output device. I am coming late to this and a year later, I am not sure who will see this.
